    Allergies Schmelergies
So Little Man had a bunch of bloodwork done last week. I was hoping that we would find out if he has allergies and what he is allergic to. Anyone that knows me knows how much I want a pet but AM and I agreed that we shouldn't get anything until we knew how it would effect WM.

The good news is at this point, he isn't allergic to anything in particular. The bad news is he definately has allergies, but the Dr. said it is too early to say what he is allergic to. We won't know anything specific until after he turns 5. I guess it is a good thing that he didn't test positive for certain things, I just wish I knew what his triggers were.

So for the next 2.5 years we will have to keep a close eye on him to see if he reacts to anything. The next time he becomes wheezy I have to bring him in and they will prescribe him a nebulizer since he will be more prone to asthma because of it.

I am happy my little boy is ok, but majorly bummed that there will be no fur babies for me in the near future (if at all).

Everyone keep your fingers crossed that he sleeps tonight. I don't know what was going on with him, but he refused to go to sleep. He was up until past 9 (he was in bed at 8 pm) playing and then cried off and on until 11 pm, with shourt bouts of crying throughout the night. Mommy is not a happy person when she doesn't get sleep.

    SUMMER SWAP
CPA Mom had an awsome idea to do a summer swap on here site. The idea was so send a secret person items that for each letter of summer. This weekend, after some post office confusion by my parter I received my package.

She included some Worry Dolls, a really cool MOMS ROCK! Bumber sticker, some lotion, chapstick, a hydro-clock, a good beach read, some smarties (like M&M's) and two bracelets (which my daughter quickly scooped up).

Thanks Emma for the swap. It was fun!

    UK Swap
I was a slacker with this one. So sorry Jean. I hope that I haven't spolied the whole process for you. At least you got your stuff in a timely manner. The Post Officer here just sucks something awful.

Jeans first package never made it to my house :( I'm not sure what happened. If the Post Office didn't loose it, then the evil damn racoons must have drug it off. I feel so bad. But Jean being the good sport that she is sent me a new one.

There is some really cool stuff in there. A book for the kiddo's, lots of paper crafts, a post card, comfy socks, a small purse, some lotion, and some candy.

Of course, the damn racoons got a hold of this one too, so any food that was in there was long gone by the time I got it. (They are monsters I tell ya!)

But I am happy to say that I finally received it. Thanks again Jean!

    AM's 35th Birthday Cake
Here is the cake that I made AM for his big 35! I tried to make it look just like him...but that is a difficult task. But it sure was good. Butter Pecan Cake with Butter/Nut Buttercream Icing.

I have two cake orders for next Saturday (yikes) ! One is a smash cake soccer ball for a 2nd birthday and the other is a Mickey Mouse Sheet cake. I'll post pics when they are finished. At least I am making a little bit o'money doing this now. Every little bit helps.

My Biggest Loser Challenge is more of a challenge than I thought. I just can't get started. But I HAVE to get started. I am wearing oen size smaller than I did before I had Gastric Bypass. That is so. bad. On so many levels. I have to take back the pride in myself and get off my ass and do it! No one is going to do it for me that's for sure.

So..Monday it is. No more fried foods. *sob* No more Dots. *sob sob* No more Moutain Dew's. *WHAAAAAA* Water is my friend.

    Biggest Loser Club Blogger Challenge
Ok, I'm game. Remember when I said I joined WW a few months back? Well, I did but only two months later I quit. I just didn't have it in me to spend $30 a month that I didn't have going to those meetings. All the ladies are great and I am sure they would have been a motivation to me at some point. I just couldn't get over the weirdness of the meetings.

But there is hope yet. I am going to jump back on the band wagon with Carissa and many others.

    THE RULES:

    1. Take a “before” photo of yourself. No it doesn’t have to be in a sports bra and spandex shorts. I am not cruel like the producers of the show are. However, take a real photo. We want to see your full body, from head to toe. It will make your after picture look so much better.

Since I just found out about this the pictures will have to wait until I can get the DH to take one. I promise to post it before the end of the week.

    2. Weigh yourself. If you don’t have a scale at home, go buy one. You can get one for like $10 at Wal-Mart. Ideally I would like you all to share your starting weight on your blogs, but if you just can’t seem to do it… maybe you could do it in a password protected post? But document it somewhere. And don’t lie. If you aren’t sure if your scale is 100% accurate then try weighing yourself on it 5-10 times within the same day. If you’re getting the same number each time, then write that number down. If it’s not accurate at least it will track your weight loss. If it weighs you different each time (keeping in mind that we always seem to weigh less first thing in the morning) then you might want to get a new scale.

Again, I can't weigh myself here at work, but I will when I get home. Anyhow, this is a good excuse to buy a new scale :)

    3. Take your measurements. Measure your height, waist, bust, thighs, arms. Write it all down.

    Height: 5′ 9″
    Waist: 41"
    Bust: 47″
    Thighs:left 32″ & right 33
Arms: left 17.5″ and right 16"
    Hips: 54″

    OUCH!!!

    4. Take your blood pressure. Since most people don’t have a way to do this from home, just head on down to the pharmacy or Wal-Mart and take advantage of the free machine.

I'll do this on the way home from work tonight at the CVS. Maybe when I buy a new scale ;)

    5. Calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index). You can do that here.

    41.3 = Obese

    6. Go and have a good cleansing cry. Hopefully after the first weigh in we’ll only have tears of joy to shed.

    That's What Friends Are For
And with friends like this, who needs enemies??

Many moons ago I posted about wanting friends and how hard it is to make friends. I am beginning to re-think the whole thing. I have a “friend”- let’s call her L. She is my work friend. We go out to lunch several times a week. We talk about our families, people at work, and just general things that friends talk about. We haven’t done anything together outside of work. I am a grants administrator here at work, and I also manage her grant. She does most of the work actually, but I am the one the writes the grant, gets it approved, and handles all the administrative things. This has put me in a somewhat compromising position between doing my job and being her friend.

Without going into too much detail, apparently she desperately wants to move to the “other” agency that co-exists within the grant. To give her credit, she has had issues buying things that were approved for the grant and it has been frustrating for both of us. However, she can be somewhat overbearing at times and expects things to get done when she wants them done. Anyone who has worked for a government agency before will tell you that ain’t how it works around here. She is pushy and it has gotten her into some trouble. Anyway, we just received the grant that pays her salary and all of the sudden “they” want to take over the grant. That’s fine with me. However, we are the ones that were awarded the grant and there are certain steps that need to be done in a certain order to make sure that everything is completed. “They” seem to think that they can get it done in a hurry. I just learned about this Tuesday, and by Wednesday evening it has turned into a big mess.

L came into my office first thing Wednesday morning asking me for a copy of the grant so that she could give it to “them” so they can start the process. Skip steps much? We are the ones that have to initiate and get the grant changed over. I was in the middle of something and told her I would get it for her in a few minutes. She tells me if I tell her where it is she will pull it for me to make the copies. Ummm hello??? You will NOT be rifling through my papers for something that you can wait for. She then proceeds to stand there and watch me do what I was doing. This gets me a little miffed. I can’t stand it when people rush me for things like that. I gave it to her and asked what she needed it for and when she told me I was even a little more upset since it isn’t “their” job to start the process. I had a call into the people I needed to talk to and was waiting to hear back from them to guide me as to what to do. I called her supervisor and was told what they were doing….not too cool in my book. They are basically three steps ahead of us in the whole process. I am sure she knew I was a little pissed~ I don’t hide my emotions well. I can’t help but feel that things have been done behind my back, and damn it is it my job.

Anyway, after she leaves I make an appointment to talk to “The Boss” to find out what they heck is going on. I talk to him about my conversations with L and her supervisor and my concerns with the entire thing. “The Boss” wants to talk to L. He calls her in to his office and tells her that we will be doing the transition the right way, yada yada yada. He never yelled at her or anything. I told her prior to, and he told her during the meeting, that in the end we are trying to protect her position because if something gets messed up then she will be the one that is out a job since it is entirely grant funded. Unbeknownst to me my supervisor was meeting with her supervisor to discuss this very issue over lunch at the same exact time.

At 4:20 or so I receive a call from L’s supervisor. He proceeded to fuss, complain, and yell at me. This didn’t go over well with me since I was only doing my job, and I in no way shape or form work for him or his agency. In a nutshell, it was a who do you think you are conversation. I explained to him that I was upset because they have already started the process without even getting in touch with me (the one person who is capable of getting it done on our end) and informing me of what was going on, and was told that he didn’t have to report to me. That went over really well, let me tell you. I was so mad that I was in tears. I went to “The Boss” and my supervisor and told them about the conversation and to expect a phone call tomorrow. Guess who called him and told him that I said they were trying to screw us?... You bet ya- L did. Thanks for throwing me under there bus there L! Thanks a fucking lot.

The next morning I was going over the conversation again with my supervisor when L’s supervisor called. Things have quieted down somewhat, but it is all still a big mess. The grant people called me and are in the process of figuring out what we have to do, but “they” are still way ahead of themselves.

I was told this afternoon by my supervisor that L is pissed and she has been told not to ask for any information relating to the grant unless it is financial. We will take care of it and let her know what is going on when we know. I was also told by him that I shouldn’t talk to her anymore, personally or professionally. That’s nice to know. I would love to know what else she has been saying about me. I have done everything she has ever asked me to do, and stuck up for her when no one else did and this is how she repays me?

    Thanks but no thanks!

So needless to say, I quite enjoyed my glass of wine last night. I might just have another one tonight. Thank God tomorrow is Friday.

    Michigan Who?

I am generally not a sports fan, but I am so excited for my Alma Mater. If only this could have happened while I was there. Makes me proud to be a Mountaineer! We are now a household name!
    Hi Yi Yikas!
Looks as though OSU and Penn State have Mountaineer fever as well. I gotta get me a t-shirt.
They even made the cover of Sports Illustrated (to be published soon)!
