Did Someone Say Circus?
I thought they did, but boy was I disappointed.
Every year the Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus makes its way to Charlotte NC. I have been twice in the the last 5 years and have always loved it. When Drama Queen was just over 1, we took her and the sheer joy in her eyes was undescribable.
So when I found out that they were going to be here again, I didn't think twice about shelling out the $80.80 (yes, you read right freakin $80!) for my darling children, AM, and myself to go see the circus. It isn't everyday that we get to do things like this. And it was to be Wild Man's first "true" entertainment outing. With the lights, music, and action I just knew he would love it.
I should have stayed my ass home and saved ALOT of money. It was at the Cricket Arena, which was the first of 3 "coliseum" type places in Charlotte. It is small and old, but I had seen many things there before so I thought it would be fine. How wrong I was!
When we found our seats, I was disappointed to say the least. We were right in front of the "ring" yes, but in the very last freakin row! I kid you not. The wall was behind us! We were so high in fact that the upside down world? Whoop dee do! All we could see was their feet. How exciting.
I think that I have gone to better no name circus' than this one. There was only one ring. Very few animals (6 horses, 2 dogs catching frisbees, and one elephant- that's it folks!)Last time it was great. I was bored the entire time. It was so bored in fact that I didn't take one picture. Not one.
And the prices? Highway freakin robbery! $10 for a bag of crappy cotton candy! Oh, I got a hat! I would rather get the cotton candy for $5 and skip the cheap thing. And of course I had to buy the kids something, so I got them matching light spinner things at $16 each. There went another $32. I know I didn't have to buy them, but I wanted them to leave with something and that just about the cheapest thing there. Total cost of suck-ass circus: $122.80. And that didn't include that AM spent on snacks. I couldn't tell you how much the nachos, drink, and peanuts were. Way too much I am sure.

I was thinking of taking Matthew on opening night, but the 50.00 threw me for a loop and I told myself that I would take him next year when he was older - and thankfully I did not!!!
Sorry you had such a sucky time - it sounds horrible!! Are you sure you were at the right circus??? :)
Man, that stinks! I know well the disappointment of paying a lot for an event and it stinking. That doesn't sound a bit like the circus I remember from my youth.
My youth. Heh. When did I get old.
BTW, your "Gotta Read Blogs" has my old title and link on it.
xoxo Happy Valentine's Day! xoxo
